Mission Objective First manned Apollo space craft mission. Test of launch facility, tracking and control system. Performance test of Apollo/Saturn booster. Earth orbit flight for maximum 14 days.
Mission Result January 27, 1967. Tragedy struck on the launch pad during a "plugs out" test. The three astronauts lost their lives when a fire swept through the Command Module
